Alexander KL Solo Showcase

12/23/11 10:37 AM

Hey all! Sorry for the long delay on the post for Xander's Solo Showcase.

So, here it is!!!

Pictures (kinda blur though) of Xander performing. I couldn't take a picture with him during his autograph session.

Alexander KL Solo Showcase.
Time: 6pm
Venue: KL Leisure Mall

I reached at around 4.30pm so that I could grab my free Xander calender for him to sign later. Well, he's Xander, ex-member of U-Kiss and an outstanding linguistic; I expected a huge crowd to have lined up for his tickets. But well...I guess it was either I reached too early or Malaysians don't really know who Xander is.

I was on the bridge, watching over the crowd and stage when an uncle with his family came up behind me.
In Cantonese,
Uncle: What's this event about?
Daughter: I don't know. Maybe those 8TV programs.
Aunt: Haiya...some singer lo...
Uncle: Who?
Daughter: The songs being played sound Koreanish. Must be a Korean singer.
Uncle: Is he popular?
Daughter: I've never heard of him before.

Honestly, through my observation (which may be subjective), many people didn't know who Xander was. Of course, now that the showcase is over, more people might know him. To add to my horror, there were free tickets being given away to those who won games which were held outside the showcase area.  FYI, the uncle mentioned above gave a try and won tickets. Hopefully, Xander gave him a good impression. I was also surprised to know that many tickets were bought at discounted price! I thought that there were around 10 to 15 such tickets. Hmmm...was the sale of the tickets really bad?

Nevertheless, I saw more excited Xanderettes lining up as time passed by, mostly girls. As expected. Some even brought those plank cards with Xander's name written on them in Korean. A lot of them bought the VIP tickets, despite the expensive price for a short showcase. But fans will always be fans whenever it comes to supporting their favourite singers. And this is a K-pop singer. With the K-pop fever spreading around like one of those viruses, it's not surprising to know that fans are willing to kill just to meet these singers. No matter how expensive the tickets are, it's always worth watching one's beloved K-pop artiste. Hey, I got 61% discount off, don't look at me.

We were allowed to enter the VIP zone at around 5pm. Yes, we waited for an hour. While waiting, I was a bit bored (no, my cousins didn't join me) and decided to observe and eavesdrop. Overall, Xanderettes were excited for Xander's first digital single after bidding farewell to U-Kiss. From what I heard, he's been facing a difficult time, which brought Xanderettes to tears, and they're really proud of him for being able to go through everything. Some were even commenting about his new hairstyle, fashion, voice and whatever cute stuff he did.

Well, Xander was punctual, alright. His showcase started with a local singer's performance at 6pm sharp. I don't really know this local singer, he must be a new fella, but I must say that he has a really strong vocal. At least, he managed to heat up the stage and floor as Xanderettes were already cheering. Then came Xander, singing Bad Girl. Yeah, his fans nearly fainted when he did the sexy hip thrust. One thing that crossed my mind: I wanna learn that dance move.

After singing Bad Girl, Xander greeted us before being interviewed by the MC of the showcase. He was really glad and amazed that many fans were there for his showcase, even stated that he might want to have a Malaysian girlfriend. Of course, the crowd went wild. He also spoke to his fans in Malay, English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese and Korean! Oh yea, Malaysian K-pop fans can speak in Korean. And even do aegyo. Not me though. His second performance was a Taiwanese song created for a popular Taiwanese love drama series - Meteor Garden, starring F4. I don't know what's the title, but if you know Meteor Garden, you'd know how the song is like.

Next, we played games with Xander (well, not exactly WE, just lucky fans who got chosen by Xander). I'm not gonna talk about the games, but there was a huge uproar from the crowd when Xander hugged the lucky fans. Girls who are madly in love with Xander cursed. I could hear "Noooooo!!!!" from every fan around me. I understand. But cursing loudly?

Xander then showed off his shuffling moves. Please don't ask me how it was. I was blocked by this inconsiderate girl who held her plank card high up in the air, waving it wildly. Geez... Next song: I Just, followed by Oh Baby. Oh Baby was the highlight for me. It's a catchy and addictive song, good for choreography. I bet it was a highlight for the rest. Here's part of the lyrics: 'Please tell me that you've got no boyfriend.' And everyone screamed, '"No!!!", "Be my boy!!!" or "Xander, me!!!" Ah yes, fanatic fans. Oh, here's another situation. Xander was drinking from a plastic water bottle when a few fans were eyeing it since it WAS drunk by Xander. Well, he actually threw his bottle at the crowd and I swear, they rushed for it. Same goes when he threw T-shirts and posters at us. It was like a rugby game. People pushed each other and piled up onto each other just to get those things. It reminded me of the time when Jong Woon threw a soft toy at the crowd around my area. One of the girls slammed my right shoulder onto the railings just to get it. Anyway, she failed to get it. But thanks, Jong Woon. I'll slap you for it.

Back to the topic, autograph session. Oh, there were rules:
  1. No shaking hands with Xander.
  2. No photography.
  3. Xander can only sign either the calender or the CD
No handshakes??! Wha?!?! Hello, there are fans who paid RM200 something just to meet Xander in person and not even a handshake? Thank God that Xander himself is a sensible and friendly star. He shook our hands and even had short chats with fans. Shall I talk about my session with him? Naaa...I'll keep it a secret. But one thing is for sure, Xander is really good and maintains a good relationship with his fans. Bad thing about my session is that the staff by his side snatched my Christmas card away from me. I was passing the card to Xander when she took it away just like that. Oh, with a sulky face. Ladeyh, I know that you have the responsibility to keep fans' gifts for the moment, but manners please. I would appreciate that very much.

Ok, pictures...

Xander's Christmas card. I hope the staff didn't throw it.
Anyway, congrats to Xander for succeeding in coming out with your first digital single after what you've been through. Although I really hope that you'll join U-Kiss again, I also pray that you'll do equally as well solo. You gotta make more catchy songs, Xander! It's a tough competition now in K-pop. And keep being yourself, that sweet, understanding star who always believes in yourself, family, friends, fans and most importantly God. He's always there for you. Good luck, Xander. I hope to hear good news about you soon.

K-pop Thoughts: No award for U-Kiss Neverland?

12/17/11 5:43 PM

I'm actually surprised that U-Kiss Neverland album did not win many (or any) award. I've already listened to all their songs in the album, which in my opinion, are really good, especially vocals and lyrics. Kudos to all of them, they've improved a lot. Compared to other groups, I strongly think that U-Kiss has the best album.

Well, I'll be honest. Although I'm an Elf, I feel that SuJu's Mr Simple album is not as good as Neverland.  Ok, throw all the rotten eggs at me, I don't care. I only listened to Mr Simple album once and didn't even turn back to listen for the second time. Not-so-interesting songs, unless I watch them perform. But Neverland album, I think this is my twentieth time listening to the whole album.

Perhaps, SuJu succeeded in making an awesome comeback by choosing a really good, powerful, catchy and ADDICTIVE song (Mr Simple) that leads them to get a few awards and stay on the top in the chart for weeks. Unlike SuJu, U-Kiss chose Neverland as their comeback; catchy but not as powerful as Mr Simple and many other songs.

Anyway, I'm not saying that U-Kiss should get the awards that SuJu has gotten. No. SuJu deserves those awards. They've worked really hard and deserve a pat on their backs. I'm just curious about the failure to get awards behind Neverland album despite all those good songs. Why not even a single award for them? After all they've been through early this year, they still managed to pull off a smooth comeback. They definitely deserve something. Has the concept of music changed? Are people appreciating/favouring catchy disco-like tunes more than the music that soothes our minds?

Well, to me, U-Kiss is actually one of the groups with strong vocals and has the ability to maintain the quality of their songs and performance overall. That's why I keep wondering the reason they weren't awarded at all.

Just curious.

About the statement which I underlined, eventhough U-Kiss did not win any awards, they won our hearts. They have their fans' support. The've got the respect they deserve. I hope it means a lot to U-Kiss, even more than those awards.
P/S: I am an Elf, Inspirit, Kiss Me, Shawol and Beauty. The problem is, I say whatever that's in my mind honestly. Compliments and critics, whether you like it or not. My opinions may not be the same as yours, my fellow comrades. Before shooting me, I would appreciate if you stop for a moment and ponder over my words. Feel free to debate with me. I'm not always right, after all. :) And I love K-pop no matter what.

PP/S: Wait, is there such thing as 'PP/S'? =O  Can I remind all of you that I'll be going for Alexander's Showcase later? Teehee!!!

Unleash the Rabbit!!

It's common to walk dogs using leashes.

But it's weird to walk your rabbit using a DOG LEASH. But that's what we're doing to Beta. In fact, he enjoys his walk outside our house. He feels comfortable, as long as we don't pull the leash too hard.

Before you start screaming "RODENTS CRUELTY!" to me, the truth is, pet shops are starting to sell leashes for rabbits and (!) even hamsters. Plus, guinea pigs. Wow, rodents are walking like dogs now. You need to buy the right leash (shame on me) for them. Since rodents are fragile animals, your leash must be supporting their abdomens and head and not strangle their neck. By supporting their abdomens, it is safer to pull them and you won't end up jerking their heads which might lead to strangling or neck bone fracture. The leash I bought supports both his abdomen and neck. I bought it from Daiso, just in case you might want to know where I bought it.

Beta loves to chew the leash, by the way.

Mama Cat

Hey readers. Padi is already a mum.

I meant to announce a few weeks ago that Padi has jumped into the preggie wagon along with Megan Fox but I couldn't due to finals. All I can say is that she looked like an alien with a humongous belly.

Padi gave birth to SIX(!!!) healthy kittens yesterday. I came home just in time for her to scream, "My kids are coming out!!!" (in her cat language) at me. So, both my mum and I were by her side while she took around 2 laborious hours to give birth to her first kitten. Then, the other kids came out like bullets, really smoothly, in less than an hour. She gave birth to her sixth kitten sometime around 3 in the morning. Alhamdulillah, everyone is safe and sound. It was our first time witnessing such beautiful moment despite the bloody embryo sacs falling out. But to see Padi transforming from a small and young cat to a mother with such good motherly instincts, is something to be admired. It's an unspoken beauty of animals created by Allah. I kept patting her, holding her paws while telling her to push and breathe. She understood as I felt her taking deep breaths to push her first newborn kitten out. She was also yelling (meowing?) in pain to us.

Maybe it doesn't make sense to some of you because you would wonder how understood her messages. I'm not sure about other animals, but if they find someone they can trust or if they have owners, cats will want these people to accompany them while they give birth. You will sort of develop a bond with them and somehow understand what they're trying to tell us. It's important for cats to trust their owners because we too, need to take care of their kittens just in case the mums go out for a rest or die.

Seriously, thank God she gave birth after my finals. Dad just got a huge project and can hardly pay attention to Padi and her kittens. Hence, I'm in charge of them. My mum can't wait to play with them while Beta the rabbit is actually happy. My other cat, Muk Ching, on the other hand, has yet to give any positive responds, except for being horrified.

I bought some good cat food, canned and biscuits for Padi since she needs more protein to stay energetic and productively breastfeed the kittens. I also found a nice cat cushion/bed for them. Oh, and some toys and rags for me to build a play pen for the kittens.

We won't be keeping all the kittens though, due to financial problem. Feeding 8 cats is too much for us to handle. So once the kittens are independent and do not rely on Padi's milk anymore, we will give some of them away. The difficult part has yet to come, which is when we feel attached to them. I know I will cry, but for their better sake, I will do anything to keep them happy.

So, finally accepted the fact that Padi is a mum to 6 kittens?

Breastfeeding the kittens.

6 blessings.

Au Revoir 1107.

Remember about my previous blog post about my life in MCKL? The time travel thing? I thought it's emotional enough for me to bid goodbye to my last class in college, to not have classes with my college mates anymore. Little did I realize that our official last day in college, which is our last day of finals, is actually the genuinely emotional day for me. We had 2 months to study and sit for exams together despite finishing classes. We had 2 months to enjoy despite not listening to lectures together anymore. And those two whole months which consisted of around 61 days just passed by. Just like that. Seriously, time waits for no man!

While studying for finals, I was actually paying attention to my friends, storing every single significant and meaningful gestures and words of theirs in my memory. Till now, I can still remember them. And till death, I will always remember them but shall keep to myself and not reveal to anyone.

I once had a chat with the Further Math students. We were talking about our future kids; how our future daughters would get together while we would talk about college times; how lucky a friend's future wife would be and that I would find someone meant for me. Then, as if time froze right after our conversation, I found myself looking at a blur future. Will we actually meet up again after we parted ways for years? Will we be there to witness each other's important events of life? Will our kids get a chance to know each other? Will we even remember what we said to each other and our moments together? Will we be able to tell our children about our college friends and life?

Two days ago, a group of us had a pot-luck party in a friend's house. Again, I carelessly ignored time until it was time for us to go home. One by one, as I watched my friends left, like a video recorder, I saved whatever memory I had of them even though they may be really little. Because as quoted by my senior, life is like an airport. You stand in the middle of the airport and you see passengers arrive and fly off. People come and go. We meet new people, then they leave and then we meet other new people, then they too, leave and the cycle goes on. The only thing we have of them is a memory of them, whether about their physical appearance, words, actions, anything.

These two weeks, every time I sat with a friend, my heart felt heavy with sadness, especially towards our last day. Some of my college friends are from other countries and states, hence by next week, most of them would be back to their homes. The only way to communicate with each other is of course, through the Internet. But I don't think that it's good enough. I mean, it's not original. We talk to each other through screens. Heck, we can't even look at each other face-to-face despite having profile pictures. How are we to show our true expressions to each other? Gradually, we would be too occupied that the least we could do is to like our friends' wall post.

I honestly think I can't express my feelings properly above. My sentence structures and vocabulary are jumbled up and might not make sense. But if you understand, I truly appreciate it.

I don't easily express my feelings to my family and friends in person. I find it better to do so by writing a letter or a blog. I'm sorry if I appeared to be cold or ignorant towards you in college. Hence, here's a message to my 1107 friends:
God is truly amazing in creating lives. He created us for each other although it may be for a short while, but at least we are in each other's lives. We existed for each other somehow. I don't have a vivid memory of my childhood and high school life because I've been erasing most of them from my memory. I've never believed in friends. I never thought coming to MCKL would teach me to believe in friends, who in turn taught me about faith in Him. I am now, indeed, missing everyone of you although I just saw some of you during the party. I can write a long post on how and when we first met, what we have done together and so on. But by doing so, I think I would cry a river simply because I want to relive college life so badly.
I hate to say this but, in person, this is definitely a goodbye to you all, unless we end up in the same university or still meet up with each other. I don't know when we will see each other again but as ironic as this sounds, let's keep in touch with each other through the Internet (everyone keeps telling each other to keep in touch but whaddaya know, it doesn't work). If you care to put in the effort. This actually includes me too. But the most important of all, take good care of yourselves and no matter how many people lack faith in you, always believe in yourselves because He has never failed to believe in you. :) With that, au revoir.

P/S: I expect you to read my blog whenever I update it on Facebook. Heee...
